SUMMER IN THE CITY

High school aged artists enrolled in our pre-college program this summer can reserve accomodations in ArtHouse, PNCA's domitory featuring furnished apartment units. This modern building in the heart of Portland's Pearl District provides students with the ultimate college experience: it's urban, has a full service student life program, and 24/7 access to Resident Advisors. Students staying here can reach campus in less than five minutes on foot. ArtHouse's central location also puts students in the center of Portland's public transporation hub, which means a bus stop, access to the MAX, or Streetcar is never more than a few blocks away.

Student safety and happiness are our number one priority. PNCA’s Residence Life program provides a supportive and vibrant environment that facilitates creativity and collaboration. Our RA's are friendly gatekeepers that make sure the college experience doesn't turn ArtHouse into Animal House. They also offer windows of time on check-in/out days to meet students at the airport/train station to guide them to and from ArtHouse.

Please note: those enrolled in our summer intensives for high school students are not required to stay in ArtHouse! This is an option that is available not mandatory.

HOW TO BOOK ACCOMODATIONS

Reservation is by application only. We have space for 22 students during our summer intensives. We need you to email or call our office to secure housing. Our process: if you know which weeks you'd like to enroll in or already enrolled in a session and decided to book housing, email ce@pnca.edu to book an appointment to secure housing.  Alternatively, if you prefer to email, we can send directions and links so you can book your session/s and accomodations at a time/day that best suits you. We are a busy office so email is the fastest way to reach someone! Appointments can be made the same day as sending an inquiry.

Our process works this way because space is limited and we have to pair roommates & flatmates with those of the same gender expression and, as possible, by dietary restrictions and sleeping preferences. We want you to be comfortable while you are here! The best way we can do that is to carefully manage the housing process rather than have people book a room the same way they would book a hotel stay.

We will do our best to advise students or parents on alternate options after we fill up.

CITY OF ROSES, STUMPTOWN, PUDDLETOWN, RIP CITY

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet: whatever people call Portland, they usually leave feeling like they want to come back. The verdant landscapes and bubbling life here create a diverse environment that guarantees each person their own cozy niche to call home. PNCA is an institution that shares its DNA with Portland: both cannot exist without creativity, collaboration, sustainability, and new ways of thinking & working. This need to live creatively is why Portland has historically been the home base for musicians, artists, app designers, writers, architects, graphic designers, and other folks that make up the creative class.
