design.labs introduces artists to key concepts, methods and tools in design. Students focus on the application of design principles & procedures in the development of products, services and the built environment. In each class, students will develop projects individually & collaboratively, create models & presentations either by manual construction or in digital form, maintain a design log and engage in discussions about the utility and sustainability of their and their peers’ designs. This program focuses heavily on integrating design with concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Each session is staffed by one instructor & teaching assistant. Usually another adult joins to assist (one that has passed a background check). Classes are capped at 18 participants so students have individual attention while they are at PNCA. Additionally, staff provides supervised care between the hours of 8:30–9am and 4:00-4:30 pm free of charge. During camp hours several staff members are on site to ensure the safety and security of all students on campus.
From paper and paints to clay and kilns, our students have access to the high quality art materials and facilities PNCA has to offer, no additional shopping necessary for you.
Tution incudes snacks and care 30 minutes before and after their courses.
Applicant families must meet free/reduced lunch eligibility criteria. Please provide documentation of such eligibility to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail.
